Chinese Premier highlights consolidation of achievements in poverty alleviation



On Wednesday, Chinese Premier Li Qiang emphasized actions to effectively consolidate and expand achievements in poverty alleviation.


Li, also a member of the Politburo Standing Committee of the Communist Party of China Central Committee, made the remarks during a research trip to Guizhou Province in southwest China.


During the trip, Li visited a local residential community in Kaili city, an industrial demonstration park in Majiang district, and a vocational school in Taijiang district. He called for continued government support to prevent a return to widespread poverty.


Li also underscored measures to foster new engines for economic growth in rural areas and to cultivate an increasing number of skilled workers to meet market demands.


The Premier acknowledged Guizhou's economic and social progress, urging the province to make greater contributions to the development of the western region of the country.
